Each therapist is different and finding the right one can be incredibly challenging. Feeling comfortable and knowing they are able to help are the foremost concerns.
I am an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities with the intention to treat each client individually. Diagnostic criteria and diagnoses are important to ground yourself in what could be happening, however, a fundamental idea I hold is that people are more complex than a collection of comorbid symptoms. Informing my theraputic practice is psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, trauma informed theory, and mentalization based treatment.
