Often, our lives are complicated, and the same goes for our problems. Psychotherapy is the process of identifying and defining the problem you are experiencing and finding new ways to approach it. A foundational idea of psychotherapy is that our past informs how we experience life in the present. Over time, we learn how to think and act; however, difficulties arise when we cannot automatically apply these learned processes. Psychotherapy aims to build our capacity to understand why we behave in particular ways and begin to change and grow beyond them.
